The whole college selection process can be a daunting challenge for Catholic families, both to those searching for the first-time, and even to those who have gone through the process before. Going to college can change a person’s life forever, including where he ends up for eternity. After all those years of sacrificing to give their children the best possible Catholic education, many parents are confronted with a huge decision. This advice will help prospective college students and their parents make this decision.

A slightly 'tongue in cheek' view of why someone might choose to homeschool.

Children naturally love to learn. They want to know everything. "Daddy, why is the sky blue?" "Why can't I see my back?" "Why are those dogs doing that?" "Are we there yet?" And so on and so on. Then we send them to school. And all desire to learn is methodically destroyed. Many of today's citizens are products of the schools of the last twenty years, during which time the trend has been to adopt a more and more socialistic posture. Most teachers have never spent their lives anywhere except in classrooms, and their vision of the world is so much at odds with the real world of business and industry as to be virtually a different society.

Bible Tails are weekly activity pages written for Catholic youngsters ages 3 to 6 and 7 to 10. Charmingly illustrated and filled with sound, inspirational Catholic material, Bible Tails coordinates with the Lectionary readings each week of the year. Each Bible Tails issue contains a story that illustrates the Gospel lesson, as well as age appropriate puzzles and games based on the readings, Holy Days, and holidays for that week. EDSITEment is published by the National Endowment for the Humanities. It is a very well designed and easy to use source for online lesson plans and ideas. They have partnered with some of the world's great museums, libraries, cultural institutions, and universities to bring resources covering art and culture, literature, language arts, foreign language, history, and social studies. Their webiste includes links to over 100 of the top humanities sites and online lesson plans which integrate these resources to promote active learning.

The C&O Canal follows the route of the Potomac River for 184.5 miles from Washington, D.C. to Cumberland, MD. The canal operated from 1828-1924 as a transportation route, primarily hauling coal from western Maryland to the port of Georgetown in Washington, D.C. Hundreds of original structures, including locks, lockhouses, and aqueducts, serve as reminders of the canal's role as a transportation system during the Canal Era. In addition, the canal's towpath provides a nearly level, continuous trail through the spectacular scenery of the Potomac River Valley. Every year millions of visitors come to hike or bike the C&O Canal in order to enjoy the natural, cultural, and recreational opportunities available.
