Often the key to whether a family can successfully homeschool is the type of support they receive. Unfortunately, we don’t always receive encouragement from our family or community. Connecting with other homeschoolers is the best way to make new friends, and to get information, ideas, and support. We’ve compiled support group resources and offer simple ways to connect with other homeschoolers through email groups, website forums, and in your community. The Myth of Socialization

If socializing is a problem for homeschool families, it is rare. The homeschool socialization myth is a misconception perpetrated by people who know little or nothing of the benefits or facts. Some parents believed they would be breaking the law by not sending their children to public school. Unfortunately, there are movements in some states to pass such laws. But as of yet, it is still lawful to homeschool. Most states require documentation, which is reasonable. Other states are lax. Homeschooling as a movement is growing, and that is a very good thing. According to NHERI, the higher quality of homeschooling is not affected at all by whether or not the parent is a certified teacher, or by any state regulations.

K12

Founded in 1999 by William J. Bennett, along with other leaders, K12 offers a traditional program of learning using online technology and traditional content. Many states are offering the K12 program through Virtual Acadamies, with programs that are free of charge to participating families.

Catholic Homeschool Network of America (CHSNA)

CHSNA is a national Catholic homeschool organization whose purpose is to represent homeschoolers' interests with diocesan officials and church and/or church-related organizations such as the NCEA, collaborate with other national homeschool groups to assure that concerns and interests of Catholics are represented, and to maintain contacts with Church officials both in America and in Rome.
